Spring trend: NEON

A few months back we saw the U.S.A incorporating the neon trend in their spring day lives.
Now that its our turn for flowers to blossom, air to be cooler and ...well, Hopefully dryer too,  I'm excited to see how SA fashionistas are going to use this colour bursting trend to their advantage.

There are a few guideline as to how one shouldn't over use this specific trend, as the colours are brighter that usual and very eye catching.  So I've put together a few illustrations as to how one can use this trend 'one piece at a time'.

Ladies

Females are obviously allowed to dress a bit more bolder than men do and have a more wider range in terms of garments to choose from( Bags, Necklaces, Shoes, Shirts etc) so this makes the trend a bit more explorable for woman.

These neon sling bags are already a hit in SA and   can be found in a bunch of CT stores especially woolworths.

Gents

For most guys, sneakers are the main accessory to an outfit.  Luckily for us, the new air max hypo fuse comes in different neon colours, meaning we now get to indulge in this bright spring trend.  Look out for these amazing sneakers at most urban wear stores.

I am so inlove with these right now

Go on....Be creative, start collecting those spring items and rock em.

Man trend: Aztec Winter 2012

Now that Winter 2012 has left us in SA, I feel the need to take a quick look back,  into what some of the guys have been wearing as a 'Man Trend' in the bitter cold season that's passed.

The Snood

The 'snood' for some who don't know is a neck scarf sewn together at the ends, so when putting it on, it automatically gives one that Layered look.  I myself had fun playing with some Aztec snoods killing two trends with one piece :)

I also think it is a great and easy way to give a plain outfit a stylish feel.

The Aztec Jersey

Stores in the Mother City have been stocked with these amazing printed jersey's and shirts as shown above.  I've seen a few in stores such as Mr Price, Zoot, Cotton On and many more cool, urban yet local stores for quite cheap actually.

The Brogue/Boot

Another Stylish item that have been ticked off on men's dressed lists this winter has been Brogues and veld boots which are really cool and vintage right now.  A bunch of the guys I know may not find these suckers wearable, but they damn stylish that's for sure.

All in all, I'm glad guys are stepping up to the fashion plate and trying out new trends.

Fashion favs KIMYE

Round about April this year, My two fashion favs Kim Kardashian and Kanye West started dating and had twitter buzzing with opinions ( obvi the 72 day marriage wasn't gonna slide with yeezy's fans ) However this is not of importance, so we move on...

What I want to talk about are the fashion choices made by miss K now that she's dating a Designer /Rapper.
On a recent episode of their hit reality  TV show, Mr West has his stylist come in and literally remove all of her clothing and like a 100 pairs of designer shoes from her closet.  Although this was the beginning of something new as some would say,  I don't think she had to give her old things away just yet...

Since then Kim has been spotted with her new romance on arm, sporting looks that are risky and kind of the girl version of 'YE'.  This could have been Cute but the stunts his been having her pull are Ridic!  Although her style has been kinda amaze since she first popped up, I think its kinda 1 dimensional and only of the same colours nowadays.( Leather, Greys, Black, Cream)

Here are a few of the Fails he had her walk in

And this is his attempt to " Getting her on the best dressed lists"

Here are a few pictures where you can see she had more say, I would think.

Although I didn't see the need to change her style that much, I'm sure she'll be channelling her old self soon ;)

Pushing fashion forward

So it's no secret that woman's fashion in South Africa has blossomed since the last four seasons last year. Passing through 2012 I've seen woman play around with what they wear when out and about which is the way its suppose to be.  Since fashion is no more regarded as serious, I personally believe more South African woman should be mixing prints, textures and chunky jewellery instead of trying to play it safe .

Enjoy the style guide below as I show you how to be more open minded toward your fashion choices.

The uptown girl

Be creative with your look, but also try and be on par with what the latest trend is and incorporate it in your style.

A colourful skinny jeans is a great way to give your look that extra colour boost it may need.

Play around with a variety of hats and bags to complement that bright trouser.
Chiffon as we all may know is a huge hit this year, as seen in almost every store in and around Cape Town.

Add glamour to your look by adding layers of jewellery.  Use shades that complement your blouse but avoid too many colours.

The street chic colour blocking bombshell

Colour blocking may be new to some, but it has been one of SA's most successful trends by far.
Be innovative and mix those dull darker shades of clothing with brighter garments.

High waisted trousers/shorts are a great way to add length to those already gorgeous legs.

Here the colour blocking trend has been incorporated with these amazing high waisted leather shorts, a coral/peach blazer and a darker coral pleated shirt.  Doesn't it look breathtaking?

Add a shade of neutral heels, clutch and chunky neck piece to add an extra bit of class to your look.

The Earth Child

Now here's where it starts getting interesting...

Here's a look you don't see everyday.  Be bold and daring and you'll definitely manage to rock at looking this chic!!!

This look is definitely not for the faint hearted.  Wearing it with a dash of confidence can totally rock this look.
This look proves that random items in a closet could be a big hit

GET THIS LOOK:
Floppy hat
Dusty pink A-List shirt
Leather Trousers (as seen on some celebrities)
Pearl beaded collar
Sleeveless faux fur coat
and brown ankle boots.

Simple yet Elegant

When attending a fancy cocktail party, a simple outfit can look effortless yet glamorous, add some elegant jewellery and nude make-up and you're good to go.

Notice the elegance of the dress combined with the subtle hair and make-up.

This little number is simple but glamorous due to its chunky embellished neckline.

Safari Meets Fashion

Be bold and daring by wearing different animal prints, but add a plain pastel trouser to give it a more subtle look and feel.

I hope this post inspired the readers to be more open minded toward their fashion choices.  Be daring and bold, confidence rocks on just about anybody!!!

Note of thanks to all those who made the shoot possible.
